When playback of an audio file is requested, the audio matrix of the system automatically connects the PLAYBACK input defined (see the
section USING THE "INPUT PROCESSORS" MENU) with the outputs of the OB 3230 AUDIO OUTPUT boards used by the various functions
(audio zones).

SYSTEM ALARMS

The system handles two types of alarms:
• ALARMS FROM THE SYSTEM DEVICES – Alarms generated by system devices (e.g. BM 3616 consoles, A.C.U.s, IO 3250 boards, IB
3210 / IB 3280 boards, OB 3230 boards, etc.).
• ALARM/WARNING COMMANDS – Alarms or warnings controlled by the operator from the BM 3616 and/or BM 3604 consoles, or from
external devices connected to the GPI inputs of the IO 3250 digital INPUT/OUTPUT boards, configured for this purpose (see the section
USING THE "GPI EVENTS DEFINITION" MENU).
Any alarm event activates the acoustic signaller of the control unit, and the ALARM LEDs (ref. 13 – Fig. 1, page 70) light up. To switch off the si-
gnaller and the ALARM LEDs, you have to access the menu for alarm status display (see the section ALARM STATUS DISPLAY); this operation
does not disactivate the alarm but only its indication.
An alarm is disactivated only when the event that caused it is no longer present; that is, when one of the following conditions occurs:
• the fault on the system device has been eliminated.
• the alarm is disactivated from the console that generated it.
• the GPI input (IO 3250 digital INPUT/OUTPUT boards) that generated the alarm/warning is no longer driven (see the section USING THE
"GPI EVENTS DEFINITION" MENU).

PRINTOUT OF ALARM EVENTS

A record of the alarm events handled by the system can be printed out in one of the following two ways.
a. If the PRINT MODE: AUTO option of the PRINTER OPTIONS submenu of the SYSTEM configuration menu is selected, an alarm mes-
sage is automatically printed out at the moment the alarm occurs.
b. If the PRINT MODE: REQUEST option of the PRINTER OPTIONS submenu of the SYSTEM configuration menu is selected, the alarm
event printout must be controlled manually. The messages printed out are related to all the alarms that have occurred since the system
was switched on.

BACKGROUND MUSIC TRANSMISSION

The system enables background music to be played in specific audio zones. Up to eight different sources can be used for the background
music (e.g. AM/FM tuner, CD player, cassette player, etc.), which are connected to the inputs of the IB 3210 / IB 3280 AUDIO INPUT boards
defined as BGM (background music) by means of the INPUT PROCESSORS configuration menu.
The background music is played as described below.
a. The background music ("background music" event) is normally played continuously in the audio zones defined as BGM by means of the
OUTPUT PROCESSORS configuration menu.
b. When the execution of an event with higher priority is requested (see the section ORDER OF PRIORITY), which involves transmission of
an audio signal in the zones defined as BGM (e.g. an announcement from a BM 3616 digital console or from a BM 3604 console, etc.),
the background music transmission is interrupted.
c. The background music is restored when transmission of the higher priority audio signal is completed.

USING THE CP 3100 CONTROL UNIT

The keyboard and liquid crystal display on the front panel of the CP 3100 control unit can be used to control and configure the RX 3000 sy-
stem. Alternatively, an external keyboard and video monitor (optional) can be used, which are connected to the dedicated connectors of the
CP 3100 control unit. The descriptions in this section refer to use of the devices incorporated in the control unit.

USING THE MENUS

The control unit operations are based on the use of numerous menus which are shown on the incorporated display (or on the optional video
monitor). The figure below shows the general structure of the menus.
