Example 2: semi-automatic exchange from a NORMAL unit to a BACKUP unit
A.C.U. configuration:
a) A.C.U. 1 of NORMAL type configured as AUTO.
b) A.C.U. 2 of BACKUP type configured as MANUAL.
The following screen appears on the CP 3100 control unit display:
ACU
TYPE
1
NORMAL
2
BACKUP
Operations to be carried out:
1) Create an alarm on A.C.U. 1 (e.g. OVL alarm). A.C.U. 1 is automatically disactivated; OFF appears in the INSERT field (unit disactivated
automatically), while FAULT appears in the STATUS field.
2) To insert the backup, a MANUAL OPERATION must be carried out on A.C.U. 2: in the INSERT field of this unit, select the ON option; the
item WORKING appears in the related STATUS field.
The following screen then appears on the CP 3100 control unit display:
ACU
TYPE
1
NORMAL
2
BACKUP
NOTE
• Once the alarm on A.C.U. 1 has terminated, to re-activate this unit you must proceed manually using the INSERT command; if A.C.U. 1 is
re-activated but the fault or malfunction of the respective amplifier persists, after a few seconds the unit returns to FAULT status and acti-
vation OFF.
Example 3: automatic exchange from a NORMAL unit to a BACKUP unit
A.C.U. configuration:
a) A.C.U. 1 of NORMAL type configured as AUTO.
b) A.C.U. 2 of BACKUP type configured as AUTO.
The following screen appears on the display of the CP 3100 control unit:
ACU
TYPE
1
NORMAL
2
BACKUP
Operations to be carried out:
1) Create an alarm on A.C.U. 1 (e.g. OVL alarm); A.C.U. 1 is automatically disactivated, and OFF appears in the respective INSERT field (unit
automatically disactivated), while FAULT appears in the STATUS field.
2) A.C.U. 2 (backup) is automatically activated in place of A.C.U. 1: ON appears in the INSERT field and WORKING appears in the STATUS
field of the backup unit.
The following screen then appears on the CP 3100 control unit display:
ACU
TYPE
1
NORMAL
2
BACKUP
NOTES
• If the cause of the alarm diminishes, to return to the initial situation, with A.C.U. 1 activated and A.C.U. 2 disactivated, you have to put the
units back in the original condition manually using the INSERT command, or reconfigure the system using one of the methods described in
the section STORING A CONFIGURATION.
• Manual activation of an A.C.U. can be useful when, for example, several backup units configured in AUTO mode are automatically switched
to FAULT status due to a line overload, for example, which is then eliminated by the user.
