use (but not using the Screen-Connector).
The flow volume and the volume-time curve are displayed online on screen during the test. Al-
ternatively, a pediatric animation can be used for FVC tests (see Chapter 7.8).
The complete flow-volume and volume-time curves are displayed at the end of the spirometry
maneuver at the left on screen, and the measured values are shown at the right. An assessment
of the measurement and information on how to continue are shown in red beneath the graph
with the measured values.
In order to assess the pulmonary function of the patient, it is necessary to obtain acceptable
test quality. The test quality depends on co-operation of the patient and this, in turn, depends
on the quality of the physician's instructions. Consequently, EasyOne incorporates an auto-
matic quality control function with prompts to facilitate the physician's job of providing the pa-
tient with good instructions. After each maneuver, a message on the screen will inform you as
to whether the maneuver was acceptable or not. If not, the message will guide you on how to
coach the patient to do better (please see Chapter 6.8 for details):
Only one of the above prompts is shown after a maneuver. As soon as you see message "Ses-
sion complete...", you need not conduct further maneuvers. If, even after repeated attempts, it
is not possible to obtain an adequate number of good maneuvers, you should take a break, de-
