Installation
9.
Put an open-end wrench width across flats 18, 22 or 27 mm into the lantern win-
dow and hold the shaft steady with the wrench surfaces (Fig. I, Item 16). Unbolt the
impeller nut (Fig. I, Item 22). The impeller (Fig. I/III, Item 21) is automatically pulled
off the shaft. For cast impellers, use a puller.
10. Depending on the pump type, loosen the screws (Fig. II, Item 10 b) or (Fig. III,
Item 10 a).
11. Release the lantern from the motor centring device with a two-arm puller (univer-
sal puller) and pull it off the shaft. The mechanical seal (Fig. I, Item 25) will also be
removed when this is done. Avoid jamming the lantern.
12. If the mechanical seal has been damaged, push the stationary ring (Fig. I, Item 26)
of the mechanical seal out of its seat in the lantern. Insert a new stationary ring in
the lantern.
NOTICE
For the following steps, observe the screw tightening torque specified for the re-
spective thread type! See "Screws and tightening torques [} 159]" table.
13. Carefully push the lantern over the shaft and position it in the desired alignment to
the motor flange. Observe the permitted installation positions of the components
when doing this. Secure the lantern to the motor flange with the screws (Fig. II
Item 10 b). For pump types/lantern types according to (Fig. III), use these screws
(Fig. III, Item 10 a).
14. Push the undamaged or new mechanical seal (Fig. I, Item 25) onto the shaft.
15. To fit an impeller, put an open-end wrench width across flats 18, 22 or 27 mm into
the lantern window and hold the shaft steady with the wrench surfaces (Fig. I,
Item 16).
⇒ For pump types with plastic impeller, proceed as follows:
16. Screw the impeller nut into the impeller hub as far as it will go.
17. Screw the impeller together with the impeller nut hand-tight onto the shaft. Main-
tain the position achieved in the previous step. Do not use a tool to tighten the im-
peller.
18. Hold the impeller and manually loosen the impeller nut by about two rotations.
19. Screw the impeller together with the impeller nut onto the shaft again until the
frictional resistance has increased. Maintain the position achieved in the previous
step.
⇒ For pump types with grey cast iron impeller, proceed as follows:
20. Install the impeller with lock washer and nut, countering at the impeller's outer
diameter while doing so. Avoid damage to the mechanical seal due to jamming.
21. The following instructions again apply to both impeller variants:
Hold the shaft and tighten the impeller nut to the prescribed tightening torque
(see "Screws and tightening torques [} 159]" table). The nut (Fig. I, Item 22) has to
be about ± 0.5 mm flush with the shaft end (Fig. I, Item 16). If this is not the case,
release the nut and repeat steps 17 – 21.
22. Remove the open-end wrench and reinstall the protective plate (Fig. I, Item 27).
23. If the O-ring has been damaged: Clean the lantern groove and insert the new O-
ring (Fig. I, Item 19).
24. Attach motor impeller unit to the transport lugs with suitable lifting equipment for
protection. To prevent the unit from tipping, place a belt loop around the motor.
When attaching, avoid damaging the electronic module (Fig. 6).
25. Insert the motor impeller unit (Fig. 4) into the pump housing with the air vent valve
facing upwards. Observe the permitted installation positions of the components
when doing this. The use of mounting bolts is recommended (see section "Ac-
cessories" [} 150]). If the motor impeller unit has been secured with at least one
screw (Fig. I, Item 29), the fixation material can be removed from the transport
lugs.
26. Screw in the screws (Fig. I, Item 29) but do not tighten them all the way.
27. Carefully pull the differential pressure sensor (Fig. I, Item 8) into the planned posi-
tion and turn it. To do this, touch the capillary tubes (Fig. I, Item 7) at the union
