Presetting Nominal Flow in Bariatric Operating Mode

The nominal flow can be increased or decreased during insufflation or while in-
sufflation is stopped.
1. Briefly press the + or - function field to increase or decrease the flow. You can
increase the nominal flow from 1 to the max. value listed on the equipment
data label located on the back of the device.
• Briefly press the corresponding field to activate setting values in incre-
ments of 1.
• Keeping the + or - function field depressed longer than 1.5 seconds acti-
vates scrolling through the possible gas flow values.
2. The preset values of the configuration menu can be changed individually (see
chapter 8.1 Configuration Menu I, page 36). Select a nominal gas flow be-
tween 1 and the max. value listed on the equipment data label located on the
back of the device. The preset value is displayed in the nominal flow display.
The values for the nominal gas flow refer to a device without connected tube,
filter, or instrument. Tube, filter, and instrument can reduce the gas flow.
The device monitors the gas flow in two different operating modes:
• Veress insufflation (1-5 l/min)
• Insufflation: Bariatric (6 to max. value listed on the equipment data label lo-
cated on the back of the device)
Veress insufflation is a gentle type of insufflation that prevents exceeding the
preset nominal pressure by the actual pressure even in case of small volumes. To
minimize the risks in case of a faulty puncture, the manufacturer recommends
using Veress insufflation to start a procedure (filling abdomen with CO
WARNING!
Please note that the automatic venting system is not active during Veress insuf-
flation mode.
Insufflation: Bariatric:
While Insufflation: Bariatric any pressure loss due to leaks can be quickly equal-
ized. APC technology (Advanced Pressure Control) enables raising the actual
pressure gently to the level of the nominal pressure. In case of large volumes, the
actual pressure usually does not exceed the nominal pressure (see chapter 9
Safety Functions, page 42).
Start the device by pressing the START function field.
Veress Insufflation is displayed with a nominal flow setting of < 6 l/min. Above
5 l/min Insufflation: Bariatric is displayed.
Stop the device by pressing the STOP function field.
NOTE!
Tube, filter, and instrument can reduce the gas flow.
