DSP MODULE - GEQ - GRAPHIC EQ
Like the parametric equaliser, the graphic equaliser is an adjustable filter used to shape the
frequency content of a signal. However, the graphical EQ is much simpler. Unlike parametric
EQ, graphic EQ has fixed frequencies and Q (bandwidth). Each fixed centre frequency has
its own gain control. There is one important thing to understand about graphic equalisers.
When you adjust a control, it also affects neighbouring frequencies.
Its parameters are:
-
FREQUENCY BANDS: gain control for the specified frequency. The value ranges from +12 dB to -24 dB
(attenuation).
-
NARROW/NORMAL/WIDE: preset Q values. This setting applies to all frequency bands.
-
RESET: resets the gain values for each frequency band to 0 dB and disables the module.
-
ON/OFF: enables or disables the module. If OFF (disabled) the signal is not processed and is passed on
to the next processing module.
NOTE: when ON the lower part of the graph curve will be coloured blue.
DSP MODULE - AFC - ADAPTIVE FEEDBACK CONTROL
The Adaptive Feedback Control (AFC) module automatically detects and inhibits audio feedback.
The module differentiates unwanted feedback from desired audio content based on specific characteristics
of the audio signal. When an instance of feedback is detected, a notch filter (narrow Q) is automatically
added at the centre frequency of the feedback. The attenuation applied is progressive, i.e. it starts with a
minimum attenuation at the feedback frequency, slowly increasing the attenuation, according to the set
parameters, until the feedback is eliminated or falls below the feedback threshold value.
Once a feedback event has been controlled and the notch filter activated, the filter is locked to prevent
changes. These filters can be duplicated in a channel equaliser for a more permanent fixed feedback solution.
There are 3 types of modules, eight (8), twelve (12) or sixteen (16) narrowband filter slots in an automatic
cycle, depending on the AFC module selected. By default eight.
