RELEASE: compressor release time when the signal goes above the threshold value.

ON/OFF: enables or disables the module. If OFF (disabled) the input signal is not processed and is
passed on to the next processing module.
On the left you can see graphically the combination of the parameters, G.R. which will show the amount
of compression applied and OUTPUT refers to the output level of the signal that has passed through the
compressor module. The amount of compression is displayed on a reverse level meter. If the input signal
and threshold are set to -6 dB and -30 dB, respectively, and the ratio is 2:1, then the amount of compression
is 12 dB; the G.R. meter will indicate about -12 dB and the output meter will indicate about -18 dB.
Automatic gain control (AGC) is
similar to a compressor, except
that while a compressor reduces
the dynamic range of a signal, an
AGC maintains the dynamic range
while automatically increasing the
signal level. The purpose of an
AGC is to enhance or normalise
the signal level while maintaining
the dynamic range.
The
AGC
includes
detection to avoid abrupt gain
swings during periods of silence.
Its parameters are:

THRESHOLD: threshold value, the signal above this value, will be controlled according to the selected
compression ratio. Normally this value is set just above the background noise value to ensure that the
background noise activates this module.

RATIO: compression ratio between the input signal and the compressed signal.

TARGET LEVEL: desired output signal level. If the signal is above the threshold, the controller will
compress the signal in proportion.

ATTACK: reaction time of the AGC when the input signal is above the threshold value.

RELEASE: release time of the AGC when the signal passes over the threshold value.
