GATING AUTOMIXER
For GATING AUTOMIXER we also have two groups of control parameters: main control parameters and
channel control parameters.
The main control parameters:
-
GAIN(db): target gain for the AutoMixer output.
-
HOLD (ms): time in which the gate of a channel will remain open after
the signal has fallen below the threshold to ensure that a short pause in
the message does not close the channel.
-
OFF GAIN (dB): attenuation to be applied when a channel is inactive or
closed. It does not affect the logic of the AutoMixer. If the value is too
high the gate will let through background noise and echoes that may
occur in the channel to which the gate is being applied.
-
SENSITIVITY (Db): determines how far the signal must exceed the noise
threshold to open the door.
-
NOM ATTEN (dB): sets the logarithmic attenuation of the output as a
function of the number of active microphones. The output is attenuated
by this value each time the NOM is doubled. For example, if the value
is set to 3 dB, then when two microphones are active (NOM = 2) the
attenuation is 3 dB. When NOM equals 4 then 6 dB of attenuation is
applied, NOM equals 8 then 9 dB, etc.
-
NOM LIMIT: sets the maximum number of active microphones (channels) allowed at a given time.
-
NOISE THRESHOLD: threshold value for a channel to open its gate, the signal must exceed the Noise
Threshold control. Background noise variations caused by constant or slow changes in equipment fans,
HVAC, etc. are monitored.
-
LAST ON: when selected will leave the last used channel in the open condition, until the signal from
another channel exceeds the threshold.
-
MUTE: mutes the AutoMixer output. It will turn red when activated.
-
ON/OFF: enables or disables the AutoMixer module.
The channel control parameters:
-
GAIN (slider control): channel gain to indicate to the GAIN SHARING algorithm the
desired relative level of each channel.
NOTE: the channel gain is after the input to the AutoMixer engine. The channel level can
influence the gain setting of other channels even if the fader is turned all the way down.
-
PRIORITY: channel priority level. This value feeds the AutoMixer engine and can influence
automatic gain adjustment decisions. Priority values range from 0 (lowest priority) to 10
(highest priority).
-
AUTOMIXER: enables or disables the channel in the AutoMixer module. It will turn blue
when activated.
-
MUTE: mutes the channel. It will turn red when activated.
NOTE: the mute is after the input to the AutoMixer engine. A muted channel can influence
the gain setting of other channels in the AutoMixer.
-
DEFAULT: sets the default channel. When all other channels are closed, the channel
defined as default (DEFAULT) shall be opened. It will turn blue when activated.
