Position the steering knobs in the neutral
position by aligning the marks on the
steering knobs to the marks on the housing.

Slip the sterile sheath over the S

Catheter interconnect tab until the sheath is
appropriately seated, leaving the C

connector uncovered.
8.
Inspect the SwiftLink* connector for
damage.
Warning against possible patient injury!
Do not use the SwiftLink* connector if it
appears to be damaged. In this case, contact
your local Biosense Webster representative.

Do not immerse the SwiftLink* connector in
fluid of any kind. If the SwiftLink* connector
is immersed in fluid, or damp, contact your
Biosense Webster representative.
Moisture trapped between the SwiftLink*

connector and the S

Catheter can

damage the SwiftLink* connector and/or the

Catheter, possibly causing

patient injury or death.
9.
Lift the lever on the SwiftLink* connector.
Slip the SwiftLink* connector on to the

Catheter interconnect tab until

the SwiftLink* connector is securely mated

with the S

Catheter handle.

Push the lever down, locking the
®
S
S
Catheter to the SwiftLink*
OUND
TAR
connector.
10. Carefully slip the sterile sheath over the
SwiftLink* connector. Cover enough of the
SwiftLink* connector cable such that it is
outside the sterile field.
11. Connect the other end of the SwiftLink*
connector to the ultrasound system. Ensure
that the ultrasound image appears in the
ultrasound system screen.

System, connect the S

to the Patient Interface Unit (PIU) via a
sterile extension cable, which has been
connected to the Q
port adaptor, as

DURING THE PROCEDURE
To conduct an ultrasound exam using the

Catheter:

1.
Create a vascular access with a catheter
introducer (hemostatic) large enough to

accommodate the S
S
Catheter
OUND
TAR
with heparinized saline.
2.
Before advancing or withdrawing the
®
S
S
Catheter, ensure that the
OUND
TAR
steering knobs are in the neutral position
and that the tension control knob is
released.

3.
Advance the S
S
Catheter into the
OUND
TAR
vasculature through the catheter introducer.
Fluoroscopy can aid in advancing the
catheter into the heart.
Warning against possible patient injury or
death!
Do not use excessive force to advance or
®
withdraw the S
S
Catheter.
OUND
TAR
Using excessive force can result in patient
injury or death.
To help prevent excessive force:
Ensure that both steering knobs are in
the neutral position, and that the tension
control knob is released before
