1. Set up the correct pin assignment (see Tab. 5 on page 73) on
the plug connections if you do not use pre-assembled wiring.

2. Connect the incoming bus connection to X71 (1).
3. Connect the outgoing bus cable with the next module using
the X72 output (2).
4. Connect the shield on both sides of the bus cable directly to
the plug housing (EMC housing) if non-pre-assembled
cables and plugs with metal housing are used. This protects
data lines from terminal interference.
Ensure that the plug housing is securely fitted to the bus
coupler housing.

3. Cover the X72 (BUS OUT) socket with a protective cap (2).
4. Connect the shield on both sides of the bus cable directly to
the plug housing (EMC housing) if non-pre-assembled
cables and plugs with metal housing are used. This protects
data lines from terminal interferences.
Ensure that the plug housing is securely fitted to the bus
coupler housing.
No bus terminator is available.
Participant automatically recognizes if it is the last
participant on the INTERBUS S ring.
A potential equalization line of at least 10 mm
between the devices to avoid compensating currents from
flowing over the shield of the bus cable.
