Fig. 18 – Autosteril/Time Flushing Systems
SEPARATE LIQUID SUPPLY SYSTEM
CLINICAL FUNCTION OF SPRAY
The dental unit can supply the sprays of the operating instruments using two different liquid sources:
- Normal water supply using mains water.
- Separate supply by independent tank, sterilisable or disposable.
In this last mode, in combination with the internal disinfection of circuits using Autosteril, the spray liquid can achieve a
higher hygienic quality and special clinical functions. It is then able to utilise originally sterile solutions and dedicated
Castellini liquids as well as additive solutions with substances compatible for contact with oral cavity mucous, selected by
Dentistry for specific clinical needs. Examples of such a substance are hydrogen peroxide (Hydrogen Peroxide 0.3 ÷ 1.5
%) and Chlorexidine (0.03 ÷ 0.2 % in distilled/deionised water).
Examples of Irrigant Clinical Use:
Parodontology: 0.2 % Chlorexidine solution in deionised water (University of Ferrara, Prof. L. Trombelli, in press)
Endodontics: 0.03% Chlorexidine solution in deionised water (University of Cagliari, Prof. E. Cotti - Paper presented at
the College of Dentistry Professors, Rome 2005)
Note: in order to avoid deposits in the circuit of spray malfunctions, perform a TIME FLUSHING cycle powered by
distilled/deionised water after using saline or additive solutions.
It is recommended that the instruments always be supplied with dedicated solutions in a separate supply
system
The tank and the relative suction needle (3 and 2 in Fig. 18) are extractable (unscrewing them clockwise as shown in
the figure) and sterilisable in an autoclave at max. 135°C.For separate powering, it is possible to utilise the liquid
supplied in the tank, or to use other dedicated liquids in disposable packages that are connectable to the dental unit and
used instead of the tank.
Note: The Dedicated Liquids permitted for use with the Separate Powering System are indicated in the
paragraph "Products for use with Castellini dental unit".
