TROUBLESHOOTING
Check the main fuse and ignition fuse.
Refer to "FUSE INSPECTION" in CHAPTER 2.
FAULTY
OK
Check the battery.
Refer to "BATTERY INSPECTION" in CHAPTER 2.
OUT OF SPECIFICATION
OK
Check the spark plug gap.
Refer to "SPARK PLUGS" in CHAPTER 2.
OUT OF SPECIFICATION
OK
Check the ignition spark gap.
OUT OF SPECIFICATION
OK
Check the ignition coil resistance.
OUT OF SPECIFICATION
OK
Check the pickup coil.
OUT OF SPECIFICATION
OK
Check the engine stop switch, throttle switch and
main switch.
FAULTY
OK
Check the throttle position sensor.
Refer to "THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (T.P.S.)
INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT" in CHAPTER
7.
FAULTY
OK
Check the ignition system's wiring.
Refer to "CIRCUIT DIAGRAM".
FAULTY
OK
Correct the connection and/or ignitor unit.
IGNITION SYSTEM
NO SPARK OR WEAK SPARK.
Replace the main fuse and/or ignition fuse.
Replace and/or charge the battery.
Refer to "BATTERY INSPECTION" in CHAPTER
2.
Repair or replace the spark plug.
Refer to "SPARK PLUGS" in CHAPTER 2.
Replace the ignition coil.
Replace the ignition coil.
Replace the stator coil assembly.
Replace the right handlebar switch, and/or main
switch.
Replace the throttle position sensor.
Properly connect or repair the ignition system's
wiring.
