In order to separate sterile from non-sterile areas, assign the following tasks to
the "sterile" or "non-sterile" nurse or medical technician. The indicated numbers
refer to the Fig. 5-3 "Irrigation tube set elements" and Fig. 5-4 "Inserting the tube
set".
1. To be carried out by non-sterile technician:
If you are using a reusable tube set, open the sterile autoclavable container
of the tube set and have a sterile technician remove the inner tube set.
If you are using a disposable tube set, open the outer packaging of the tube
set and have a sterile technician remove and open the inner tube set packag-
ing.
2. To be carried out by sterile technician:
Keep the Luer lock connector (10) in the sterile area and hand the tube end
with the spikes (2) to the non-sterile technician.
Connect the Luer lock connector (10) with the instrument (e.g. inflow can-
nula). Open inflow valve at instrument.
3. To be carried out by non-sterile technician:
Before inserting, close both tube clamps (3) (Fig. 5-4 Inserting the tube set)
on the bags.
Switch device on. The power status LED lights up. Make sure all tube sets are
removed from the pump before switching the device on. A long beep is emit-
ted to signal the successful completion of the device test and the tube can
(12)
now be inserted.
Inserting the roller tube is depicted in Fig. 5-5 "Inserting the roller tube set" .
When inserting the roller tube, make sure not to damage the membranes of
the pressure chamber. Insert the pressure chamber (8) only if not pressur-
ized.
Insert the unpressurized pressure chamber (8) carefully into the right notch
of the tube retainer (12) up to the stop.
Place the roller tube (7) around the roller wheel.
Insert the tube adapter into the left section of the tube retainer by tighten-
ing the tube.
Make sure the tube adapter is firmly snapped into place! Irrigation and drain
tube must point away straight towards the front from the tube retainer.
Connect an instrument and the corresponding bags (see also chapter 5.8 "Con-
necting the Fluid Bags").
