109. Use a ruler and carefully cut the covering 1/8 inch (3mm)
below the line drawn on the in to remove the covering.
Remove the covering from both sides of the in. Use care not
to cut into the underlying wood, weakening the in.
Î Use a covering iron to seal the covering to the
underlying structure before trimming the covering.
110. Carefully cut the covering 1/8 inch (3 mm) inside the line
drawn on the fuselage to remove the covering. Use care not
to cut into the underlying wood, weakening the fuselage.
Remove any lines using a paper towel and isopropyl alcohol.
111. Use a square to check the alignment between the in the
stabilizer. Lightly sand the in if necessary to correct any
alignment issues.
112. Remove the in from the fuselage. Mix 20g of 30-minute
epoxy. Use an epoxy brush to apply epoxy in the slot in
the fuselage and to the exposed wood along the top of the
fuselage.
113. Use an epoxy brush to apply epoxy to the exposed wood on
the bottom of the in.

114. Fit the in back into position. Continually check the alignment
of the in to the stabilizer as the epoxy cures.
‰ HINGING THE ELEVATORS AND RUDDER
Î Read through the hinging section before mixing
any epoxy. The hinges can be glued in the elevators
and rudder using the same batch of epoxy.
115. Apply a small amount of oil to the lex point of the hinge to
prevent epoxy from entering the hinge.
116. Mix 15g of 30-minute epoxy. Apply epoxy to the outside of the
hinge using a toothpick
117. Use a toothpick to apply epoxy inside each of the holes for the
elevator hinges.
118. Insert the hinge into the hole in the control surface.
