INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Caution: Ensure that the red O-rings are no longer visible to ensure the knob is fully
tightened.
Well Leg Holder
a. Locate the HDS Well Leg Spar (AR-6529-14L or AR-6529-14); this is the Spar with
the smaller joint on the proximal end and only a single handle on the distal
end.
b. If the Well Leg Spar carriage was mounted to the cart, the carriage should be
locked in place approximately 10 in (25,4 cm) from the Spar joint at the
proximal end of the spar. If it is not, you can move the carriage to this position
to help balance the weight distribution of the Spar and make it easier to
maneuver. To do so, unlock the Well Leg Spar carriage by pushing the
Carriage Lock located on the carriage handles forward (Fig 6). Slide carriage
so that it is located about 10 in (25,4 cm) from the Spar joint and pull the
Carriage Lock lever to lock the Carriage in place.
c. Ensure that the Mounting Hook located on the underside of the Spar joint is in
line with long axis of spar. If necessary, adjust by actuating the AB/Adduction
handle (Fig 7) and having a co-worker adjust the angle of the mounting hook
so that it Sis in line with the axis of the spar.
d. As with the Operative Spar, lift the Spar and orient at a 30⁰ angle. Advance to
engage the Mounting Hook with the Well Leg Adapter. Lower the Spar to fully
mount the Well Leg Spar with the Well Leg Adapter. Secure the Spar by
tightening the distal Locking Knob on the Well Leg Adapter (Fig 10B) so that
the red O-rings are no longer visible.
Caution: Ensure that the red O-rings are no longer visible to ensure the knob is
fully tightened.
Traction Boots
a. The HDS system has two traction boots (AR-6529-06 or AR-6529-23), each
equipped with a quick disconnect mount on the sole of the boot. These
engage with a mating key on the end of the Teletrac traction unit located on
the top of the Carriage on both the Operative and Well Leg Spars as shown
in Fig 11.
