4. Function and description

4.1. General information
The travspring™, travspring™ One and travsmart
lifelines are composed of the following components,
arranged as shown in Figures 1, 2, and 3, (page 3)
showing a typical installation, modulable in accordance
with the site to be equipped:
– Two end anchors (A)
– A tensioner and cable lock assembly is contained
inside the case of travspring™, travspring™ One and
travsmart lifelines:
– A cable tensioner with a capacity of 130mm (B)
having a mooring spindle at each end locked by
a spring ring pin.
– A corner unit (H) for locking the cable end.
– A tension indicator (C)
"Note": The tensioner (B) and the tension
indicator (C) are optional for the travspring One™
lifeline
– One or two INRS shock absorbers according to the
type of lifeline,(D)
– A stainless or galvanised steel cable of 8 mm diameter
(G) constitutes the belay. This cable has a sleeved
loop at one end, equipped with a lug, the other end
being soldered and ground. Its length depends on the
length of lifeline to install.
– One or more intermediary anchors (E), in variable
number according to the length of the lifeline, if it
exceeds fifteen meters.
– A quick link connector (J)
– A corner unit (H) to lock the cable end.
– One or more cornering anchor or pulley kits depending
on the type of lifeline (I)
"Important": The connection of each PPE on the
lifeline cable must be made using either a travsmart
slide (O) made by Tractel
®
or with a steel wire connector compliant with EN 362 on
the travspring™ and or travspring™One lifelines.
"Important": The travspring™, travspring™ One
and travsmart lifelines and are delivered without screws
or dowels for their attachment to the host structure. The
technical specifications of the fixing means of the
lifeline to the host structure depend on the nature and
specifications of this structure, these methods must be
defined by the prerequisite technical study, including
the analysis of the host structure, determining its
strength, and the corresponding calculations report.
The selected fasteners (dowels, bolts, post) must
be implemented in accordance with the instruction
manuals supplied by the manufacturers of the fasteners
and particularly following the installation notices for
Tractel
®
SAS for the travsmart lifeline
travspring™, travspring™ One and travsmart lifelines
make up a range of 7 lifelines:

4.2. Description of components
End anchor (page 3, item A)
"Important": The travspring™, travspring™ One
and travsmart lifeline end anchors are not part of the EC
type examination certificates because they have not
been tested during certification tests carried out by the
authorised body APAVE No. 0082 according to
standards EN 795-C and TS 16415-C. However, they
have been tested by Tractel
30 kN in order to guarantee compatibility in use as a
structural anchor point for these lifelines.
The anchor end is adapted to be secured to the host
structure by two screws or M12 bolts (specifications to
be set by the pre-study) passing through the two 13 mm
wide oblong holes shown in figures A1 and A2 below.
This anchor consists of one single piece.
