"Important": It is essential for the safety of the
operator that the lock and the safety latches are
correctly fastened as soon as the connection is made. It
is essential to use a connector wire diameter not
exceeding 11 mm.
8.3.3. Installing the slider on the lifeline
The following procedure refers to Figure 27 on page 15:
a� Unlock the jaw (item 6) by unlocking the lock
(item 5).
b. Tilt the jaw (item 6) towards the inside of the slider
release the lock (item 5).
c. Insert the travsmart lifeline cable (item 10) in the
opening of the slider and release the jaw (item 6).
d. Check that the jaw (item 6) is correctly retained by
the lock (item 5).

8.3.4. Tilting the EN 362 wire connector on the
slider
The following procedure refers to figure 28 on page 16:
"Important": In no event can the travsmart slider be
used with the EN 362 wire connector (item 1) anchored
in the rocker opening (item 12 ). This configuration of
use may cause premature wear of the slider to the right
of the opening for passing the anchors (indicator 13).
"Note": For left-handed use of the line, the wire
connector EN 362 must be placed on the right hand
anchoring opening (item 9) of the slider and vice versa
if the operator is right handed. Failure to observe this
rule will prevent optimum passage of the traveller at the
turn and intermediate anchors.
a) Push in the button (item 14), then tilt the rocker lever
(item 11) opposite the connector (item 1).
b) Insert the connector (item 1) in the rocker opening
(item 12), then release the tilt lever (item 11) and also
the button (item 14).
c) Press in the button again (item 14) while holding the
slider and pull on the connector in order to locate it in
the opposite anchor opening (item 9).
d) Release the button (item 14) and check that the
connector is firmly installed in the anchor opening
(item 9) and that the tilt lever (item 11) is correctly
repositioned and locked in rotation.

9. Verification, inspection and

maintenance

All lifeline installations must, prior to service or a
return to service after dismantling or repair, have
all their components inspected in order to ensure
compliance with legal and normative requirements
for safety, especially the EN 795 Standard. Tractel
SAS recommends that for this purpose the use of an
approved inspection body. This review is at the user's
initiative and expense.
travspring™, travspring™ One and travsmart One
horizontal lifelines are PPE that are legally required
to subjected to regular inspection and, for this reason,
Tractel
recommends carrying out a minimum yearly
®
verification that a lifeline are in good operational
condition.
This inspection is to analyse the general good state
of preservation and cleanliness of components (end
anchor, tensioner, tension indicator, shock absorber,
intermediary anchor, bend anchor, sign plate, cable,
corner unit, quick link connector, slider). Check legibility
of the marking on the components of the lifeline during
the periodic inspection.
In addition, the PPE used to combat falls from height
and the travsmart slider used in connection with the
travsmart lifeline are subject to verification prior to
being put into operation, as well as regular inspection
by a qualified person in accordance with the relevant
regulations and standards. This verification must take
place at least once a year.
Lifeline and its components must be kept constantly
clean,
free
of
contaminating
construction waste, rubbish, etc.).
It is recommended to keep a monitoring book for each
lifeline, quoting the reference to the preliminary study,
the composition of the lifeline, the checks made, any
falls that have called upon the lifeline, refurbishing
measures and repairs, as well as any changes made
to the lifeline. In addition, PPE and the travsmart
slider must be registered and monitored annually
in accordance with the requirements of the PPE
Regulation.
