12 Before each session of use, the user must perform
a visual examination of the lifeline to ensure that it
is in good operating condition, as is the associated
PPE; they are compatible and are properly installed
and connected.
13 The lifeline must be used exclusively for protection
against people falling, as specified in this manual.
No other use is permitted. In particular, it should
never be used as a suspension system. It must
never be used for a number of more than five
operators with a maximum working load of 100 kg
or by more than three operators with a maximum
working load of 150 kg at the same time and must
never be subjected to a higher strain than that
indicated in this manual.
14 It is prohibited to repair or modify travspring™,
travspring™ One or travsmart lifeline components
or to use spare parts not supplied or recommended
by Tractel
SAS. The dismantling of a lifeline
®
involves serious risk of injury or property damage
(spring effect), this removal should be reserved
exclusively for a technician fully conversant with the
risks of tensioned cable disassembly.
15 Tractel
SAS accepts no liability for the installation

of travspring™, travspring™ One or travsmart
lifelines carried out without its supervision.
16 When a travspring™, travspring™ One or travsmart
lifeline has been used to arrest an operator fall, the
entire lifeline, especially the anchors, seals and
anchor points located in the fall zone, as well as
personal protective equipment concerned by the
fall, must be checked before being put back into
use. This check should be conducted as indicated
in this manual, by a person approved for such
a purpose. Components or non-reusable items
should be discarded and replaced in accordance
with the instruction manuals supplied with these
components or elements by their manufacturers.
17 For the safety of the operator, if this equipment is sold
outside the first country of destination, the dealer

maintenance, for periodic inspections and repairs,
all compiled in the language of the country of use.
18 It is essential for the safety of the operator that the
device or anchoring point is correctly positioned
and that work is carried out in a manner that will
minimise height and the risk of falls.
19 Any travspring™, travspring™ One and travsmart
lifeline that has not been periodically examined in
the last 12 months must not be used. It may only be
used again after a periodic review by an authorised
and competent technician who will authorise

its return to use in writing. If this inspection and
SAS. This
authorisation is not carried out, the lifeline will be

decommissioned and destroyed. Remember that
the operator's safety depends on maintaining the
efficiency and resistance of the equipment.
20 If the mass of each operator, increased by the
weight of their equipment and their tools is between
100 kg and 150 kg, it is imperative to ensure that the
total weight (operator + equipment + tools) does not
exceed the maximum operating load of each of the
components of the fall arrest system.
