"Lifeline": There is no reference to the term "lifeline"
in the regulations or standards. The horizontal
travspring™, travspring™ One and travsmart lifelines
belong to the category "Anchoring device equipped with
flexible horizontal belaying support".
"Anchoring device": Component or series of items
or components making up an anchor point or anchor
points.
"Anchor point": Element to which a personal
protective equipment item (against falls from height)
can be attached after installation of the anchor. On the
travspring™, travspring™ One and travsmart lifelines,
the anchor points are mobile: they are either travsmart
sliders for the travsmart lifeline, or steel wire connectors
for travspring™ and travspring™ One lifelines. These
sliders and connectors slide along the lifeline cable.
" Maximum Operating load": maximum mass of the
fully dressed operator, equipped with their PPE, work
clothes, tools and equipment needed for their work.
" Fall arrest system": Set consisting of:
– Fall arrest harness.
– Retractable Fall Arrest or energy absorber or
mobile fall arrester on rigid anchor or fall arrester
on a flexible anchor.
– Anchor.
– Linking element.
" Element of the fall arrest system": Generic term
defining one of the following:
– Fall arrest harness.
– Retractable Fall Arrest or energy absorber or
mobile fall arrester on rigid anchor or fall arrester
on a flexible anchor.
– Anchor.
– Linking element.
2.2. Pictograms
"Danger": For comments intended to prevent
harm to people, including life-threatening, serious or
mild injury, or harm to the environment.
"Important": For comments intended to prevent a
failure or damage to the product, but not directly
endangering the life or health of the operator or other
persons, or damage to the environment.
"Note": For comments regarding precautions to
be taken for efficient and convenient installation,
operation and maintenance.
: Read the instruction manual.
: Wear Personal Protective Equipment (fall arrest
device and safety helmet).
: Enter information in the maintenance log, or
depending on the case, in the checklist.

3. Presentation

The travspring™, travspring™ One and travsmart
lifelines are personal protective equipment (PPE) of
the mobile anchoring device type comprising a single-
cable horizontal belay support and making installation
particularly simple. They are manufactured and tested
in accordance with EN 795 Type C of 2012 and technical
specification TS 16415 Type C of 2013 to receive up to
five mobile anchors or 'sliders' for the travsmart lifeline
or connectors for travspring™ and travspring™ One
lifelines. Personal protective equipment (PPE) against
falls from a height can be attached to each of these
mobile anchors, in accordance with European Directive
89/686/EEC and the corresponding standards.
The travspring™, travspring™ One and travsmart
lifelines are specifically designed for installation and
use on a wide range of support structures.
"Important": travspring™ and travspring™ One are
proximity lifelines, that is to say, they must be installed
from one end to the other of the operator's reach, so
that they can manually operate their mobile anchorage
connector to cross intermediate travspring™ anchors or
the operator is equipped with a dual lanyard equipped
with 2 mobile anchorage connectors for crossing the
intermediate travspring™ One anchors and cornering
anchors, if these are installed. This constraint does not
exist if the lifeline has neither intermediary or angle
anchors (less than 15 meters long).
"Important": The maximum usage load per operator
of the travspring™, travspring™ One and travsmart
lifelines is 100 kg or 150 kg (chapter 1). It is imperative
to ensure, before use, that all the elements of the fall
arrest system of each operator are compatible with this
load by referring to their respective manualss. If this is
not the case, the maximum load will be that of the
element of the fall arrest system that has the lowest
maximum use load.
"Note":
PPE
travspring™, travspring™ One and travsmart must
always be CE labeled.
The maximum forces generated during an operator fall
are specified in Table 1 for one and five operators.
