HANDLING AND STORAGE

2.1

Handling the packed machine

HAVE THE MACHINE HANDLED BY SKILLED PERSONNEL ONLY.
THE LIFTING EQUIPMENT MUST WITHSTAND A MINIMUM RATED LOAD EQUAL TO THE
WEIGHT OF THE PACKED MACHINE.
The machine is shipped in a wooden crate fitted to a pallet.
The packed machine must be handled using adequate lifting equipment (forklift truck). Lift the pallet as shown in
Fig. 25. (for optimal weight balance, forks 1 must be inserted in the centre).

Unpacking

WHEN UNPACKING THE MACHINE, ALWAYS WEAR GLOVES TO PREVENT SCRATCHES
AND CUTS CAUSED BY CONTACT WITH PACKING MATERIAL (NAILS, ETC...).
After uncrating the machine, visually inspect the machine and its components to make sure they are in good
condition. If in doubt, do not start up the machine and seek expert advice.
Collect the packing material (plastic bags, polystyrene, nails, screws, wood, etc.) in a suitable area and dispose of it
according to applicable waste disposal regulations. Keep the pallet, it may come handy in the event you need to
relocate the machine at a later time.
2.3

Handling the unpacked machine

A. THE LIFTING EQUIPMENT MUST WITHSTAND A MINIMUM RATED LOAD EQUAL TO
B. DO NOT ALLOW THE LIFTED MACHINE TO SWING
If necessary, handle the unpacked machine as follows (see Fig. 26):
1) Bring the chucking table at the bottom position.
2) Move the tool carrier all the way towards the chucking table, with the tools on the left and right side of the
chucking table, respectively.
3) Disconnect all supplies to the machine.
4) Sling the machine using three belts of adequate length (300 cm) and strength.
5) Lift and handle the machine as required.

INSTALLATION

3.1

Where to install the machine

Install the machine indoors or in a roofed area. Place of installation must be dry, adequately lit and in compliance
with applicable safety regulations.
Place the machine in the work area and make sure that the minimum distance from adjacent walls or objects is
respected, as shown in Fig. 2, Fig. 4, Fig. 6.
Make sure that the operator can see the entire machine and surrounding area from his/her work station. The
operator must ensure that no unauthorised persons are standing within the work area and that there are no objects
left lying around which could represent a hazard.
The machine must be installed on a level surface, as smooth as possible and able to withstand a minimum weight
of 5000 N/m2. Make sure that the flooring is level and apt to withstand the load.
The machine can be secured to the floor using the holes in the machine frame and screw anchors for M12 x 120
mm screws (or 12 x 80 mm stud bolts).
3.2

How to install the machine

The machine is provided completely assembled, with the exception of the hydraulic control support.
To install the machine, proceed as follows:
A.
Position support A (Fig. 27 for NAV 21 – B956 models only) for hydraulic and electronic controls vertically, fix
it to frame B through the 4 screws supplied (tightening torque: 8 Nm), make sure that hoses are not damaged
or squashed.
B.
Remove the screws securing the machine to the pallet.
C.
Place the machine in the work area, as described in paragraph 2.3.
D.
The machine can be secured to the floor using the holes in the machine frame and screw anchors for M12 x
120 mm screws (or 12 x 80 mm stud bolts).
