Safety devices

All the machines are equipped with:
man-operated controls (immediate stop of operation when the control is released) for all operating devices:
chucking table jaw open/close, chucking table arm rotation, chucking table rotation, tool carrier translation, tool
translation, tool lifting (only where featured) and tool tilting up (only where featured);
maximum pressure valve on hydraulic pump delivery, to protect the entire line from overpressure caused by
accidental overloads;
check valves for:
• chucking table jaw movement
• chucking table arm movement (only NAV 21 – B956)
• tool-carrier arm lifting and tilting up (only where featured)
These valves are installed to avoid accidental oil leaks which could cause undesired jaw movements (and
consequently cause the wheel to fall) or tool movements;
fuses on the electrical power line of the hydraulic unit and chucking table motors;

Indication of residual risks

The machine was designed and manufactured in compliance with applicable regulations. The risks
connected to the use of the machine have been eliminated as far as possible.
Possible residual risks are described in this manual; the machine also features self-adhesive pictograms
(Fig. 1 – NAV 11 - R926; Fig. 3 – NAV 21 - B956; Fig. 5 – NAV 31 - B957) indicating hazard areas.
In the event pictograms become illegible, please order them from a dealer or directly from BUTLER S.P.A.
and replace them.

PRELIMINARY INFORMATION

1.1

Definition of machine components and controls

1.1.1 Machines NAV 11 – R926
• Two-position electrical power main switch C (Fig. 7): position 1 for powering the machine, position 0 for
cutting off power to the machine (with the switch in position 1, the hydraulic unit motor begins to turn – with
minimum energy consumption – and continues to run until the switch is set on 0 again.
• Tool carrier D (Fig. 7) (mobile on guide).
• Tool E (Fig. 7).
• Carrier guide F (Fig. 7)
• Chucking table arm complete with drive G (Fig. 7).
• Chucking table arm rotation cylinder H (Fig. 7).
• Hydraulic unit I (Fig. 7).
• Wheel-carrier surface A (Fig. 8).
• Wheel-carrier chucking table B (Fig. 8).
• Rim clamping pressure check gauge A (Fig. 9).
• Main control panel (Fig. 10) including:
• three-position lower knob A (with guard) for wheel-carrier chucking table open/close control: one
central position –stable- to stop chucking table movement and two positions –unstable- to open/close
chucking table jaw;
• three-position lever B for tool carrier translation control: one central position –stable- to stop translation
and two positions –unstable- for support translation toward chucking table and in opposite direction;
• three-position lever C for chucking table arm rotation control: central "stable" position to stop movement
and two "unstable" positions for arm downward and upward rotation;
• Lever A controlling chucking table anticlockwise/clockwise rotation (Fig. 11).
