OTU-8000 and WEB Interface

Default configuration

44
Most OTU-8000 configuration is done via the Web interface (see
Interface" on page
61).
Nevertheless, the OTU-8000 network information (IP address, sub-
mask and gateway) must be configured before the OTU-8000 can be
reached via the LAN.
To configure this network information prior to the final installation on the
network, you must follow this procedure
1 Unplug the OTU-8000 if necessary in order to restart it.
2 Plug the OTU-8000 in to start the OTU-8000 software while you
push the button <Def IP>. This allows the OTU-8000 to be reset to
a default IP configuration and become a DHCP server.
3 Create a local network between the OTU-8000 and a PC
to create this network, you may:
a Connect the PC and the OTU-8000 together via a crossed
ethernet cable,
b Use a hub to connect locally both machines via straight (regular)
ethernet cables.
4 Set your PC to DHCP mode (select «obtain an address automati-
cally» in the TCP/IP properties of your ethernet board).
Your PC will be automatically provided a IP configuration from the
OTU-8000.
5 Open your web browser and type the default URL :
http://192.168.1.1
Follow all instructions provided in
on page 45
to configure your final LAN settings and all other neces-
sary information.
6 Disconnect your local network and connect the OTU-8000 to the
LAN.
7 Set your computer back to its original settings if necessary
connect it to the LAN.
8 Type the final IP address of your OTU-8000 in your web browser to
access the OTU-8000 software and continue the configuration.
(Use the following syntax : http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx or just
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is your IP address).
NOTE
If you can not access the OTU-8000 with the new IP address, go
back to step 1 and try to find what could possibly be wrong in your
configuration, or call your system administrator for assistance.
1. Ask your system administrator if you need assistance
2. Do not connect directly to the LAN
3. Only necessary in case DHCP mode was not the normal setting
