General information

Appropriate usage
A door element (frame, door leaf and
accessories) is designed as means of clo-
sure for access openings in walls within
buildings. It is designed to allow access to
persons and is not suitable for vehicular
traffic.
Although door elements are verified
according to testing standards and were
built according to the state of the art, they
may pose a risk. The improper use of door
elements exists in particular in the follow-
ing events:
– If they are not placed according to their
appropriate use.
– If they are improperly maintained or
serviced.
– If pressure beyond the usual manual
force is applied to the handle connection.
– In the event of using locking mechanisms
that do not belong to them or which are
not correctly adjusted.
– In the event of insertion or affixing
improper objects to the lock, strike plate
or door leaf.
– In the event of simultaneous operation of
the lever and the key.
– If someone reaches between door leaf
and frame when closing the door.
Door elements are not suitable for use as
load-bearing building components. Door
elements must be installed in a perpen-
dicular position, so that the hinge axes
are arranged vertically.
The present instructions for assembly,
usage and maintenance must be strictly
observed in order for their usage to be
deemed appropriate. In order to ensure
that they are used appropriately, in the
sense that they achieve the required per-
formance characteristics, it should be
checked before installation that the details
on each of the door elements delivered ful-
fil the relevant requirements.
All performance characteristics (relating
e.g. to fire protection, smoke-proofing,
sound insulation, burglar resistance) can
be provided only by door elements in a fully
complete state. Where shipment is made
via more than one delivery or where the
frame and door are installed with a time
lapse, the sequence and / or correct config-
uration of components should be observed
carefully.
The correct performance characteristics
can be provided only if the door leaf is
properly closed; that is to say if the door
latch is inserted properly into the strike
plate in the frame. For burglar resistant
doors, the door element must also be
locked and secured.
Please keep these assembly, operating and maintenance instructions as long as you use the product!
