10.2.2.3 Two-point and three-point calibration
Two point calibration
With the help of the measurements of two different buffer solutions with defined pH
values, pH zero point and pH conductance of the electrode are determined.
The pH values of the buffers must have at least a distance of 2 pH from each other.
This calibration is recommended for most applications.
Three-point calibration
The three-point calibration determines the pH zero point as well as the pH conductance in
the acidic range and the pH conductance in the alkaline range.
For reference, three buffer solutions are required with defined pH values. Of which must
be a one to be acidic, one neutral and one alkaline. The pH values of the buffers must
have at least a distance of 2 pH from each other. This calibration is recommended for
applications with higher precision demands, measuring both in the alkaline and in the
acidic range.
