Residual hazards

Protection of
Before working on the controller check that no voltage is applied to the power terminals, the relay output and the pins of the FIF
persons
interface.
– because the power terminals U, V, W, +UG, -UG remain live for at least 3 minutes after mains switch-off.
– because the power terminals L1, L2, L3; U, V, W, +UG, -UG remain live after the motor is stopped.
– because the relay outputs K11, K12, K14 und K21, K22, K24 can remain live when the controller is disconnected from the mains.
If you use the not open-circuit protected function "Selection of direction of rotation" via the digital signal DCTRL1-CW/CCW
(C0007 = -0- ... -13-, C0410/3 ≠ 255):
– In the event of an open circuit or failure of the control voltage, the drive can change its direction of rotation.
If you use the function "Flying-restart circuit" (C0142 = -2-, -3-) with machines with a low moment of inertia and a minimum friction:
– After controller enable in standstill, the motor can start for a short time or change its direction of rotation for a short time.
The heatsink of the controller has an operating temperature of > 80 °C:
– Direct skin contact with the heatsink results in burnings.
Variant E82EVxxxK4B241 (Safe standstill):
In the event of a short circuit of two power transistors, a residual movement of up to 180°/pole pair number can occur at the motor!
– Example 4-pole motor: residual movement max. 180°/2 = 90°
– This residual movement must be taken into account for the risk analysis, e.g. safe standstill for main spindle drives.
Controller protection
All pluggable connection terminals must only be connected or disconnected when no voltage is applied!
Cyclic connection and disconnection of the controller supply voltage with L1, L2, L3 can exceed the input current limit:
– Allow at least 3 minutes between disconnection and reconnection.
Depending on the controller settings, the connected motor can be overheated:
– For instance, longer DC-braking operations.
– Longer operation of self-ventilated motors at low speed.
Overspeeds
Drives can reach dangerous overspeeds (e.g. setting of inappropriately high field frequencies):
– The controllers do not offer any protection against these operating conditions. For this, use additional components.
