Remote control shift cable adjustment
(E models)
1. Check:
9 Shift cable
Damage → Replace.
Incorrect shift lever position/poor shift-
ing → Adjust.
2. Adjust:
9 Remote control shift cable
Adjusting steps:
8 Move the remote control lever so the
shift lever (engine side) is in the neu-
tral position.
8 Loosen the locknut 1.
8 Remove the clip and then remove the
cable adjuster 2 (along with the
remote control throttle cable 3) from
the throttle control cam 4.
8 Set the remote control lever to the
neutral position.
8 Turn the cable adjuster so it aligns
with the pin on the throttle control
cam. Then, reinstall the cable adjuster
(along with the remote control shift
cable) onto the throttle control cam.

The cable adjuster must be screwed in at
least 8 mm (0.31 in).
8 Install the clip and tighten the locknut.
8 Move the remote control lever to the
forward, neutral, and reverse posi-
tions and make sure it shifts smoothly
and correctly. Also, make sure the shift
lever (engine side) is in the same posi-
tion as the remote control lever (e.g.,
both in the neutral position). If the
shifting operation is unsmooth or
incorrect, repeat the above procedure.
NOTE:
If the remote control shift cable cannot
be properly adjusted at the engine side,
make adjustments at the remote control
side.
