Installation and commissioning

5.1

System structure

REGARD 3000 forms the central controller for the complete gas detection and, if
applicable, fire alarm system. REGARD 3000 is designed for wall mounting, but can
also be installed in a cabinet. In this case, the Docking Station is bolted to an
assembly plate in the cabinet (see Docking Station assembly instructions).
Modules can be inserted in the predefined module slots on the Docking Station.
Each module and module slot is colour coded; this colour coding must match.

The Display Unit for operating the system can be fitted on the Base Unit or in a
cabinet door (see the assembly instructions for the Display Unit).
Only specialists (e.g. Dräger Service employees) are permitted to install the gas
detection system subject to the relevant local regulations.
The assembly and installation instructions must be follows to ensure compliance
with the requirements of the EMC Directive.

System limits

The following limits apply to a system:

– Max. 1 Gateway Module
– Max. 1 Configuration PC
– Max. 1 Display Unit
The REGARD 3000 can be used together with other REGARD products. For further
information see: "Interlinking with REGARD 7000", page 180.
5.1.2

Prerequisites for the system structure

– Plan the setup to ensure that the REGARD 3000 can be protected from
unauthorised access. The system operator is responsible for access to the
REGARD 3000.
– Before handling electronic system components, make sure that the persons
handling them are earthed to prevent damage to the components. A person can
be safely earthed by, for example, an ESD armband (electro static discharge).
