Place a spring on each of the carbon dowels at the front of the
canopy hatch. Use a small amount of 5-minute epoxy or contact
adhesive to hold the springs against the plywood.
 Two sets of spriongs have been included to either
increase the tension required to hold the canopy
in position, or to replace a lost spring.

Place the canopy hatch back in position on the fuselage.
 Two 4-40 x 1/2 inch machine screws and two #4 washers can
be used to secure the canopy hatch to the fuselage. The covering
must be removed from the fuselage to install the screws.

Trim the cowl using hobby scissors to fi t around the muffl er and
carburetor. Smooth any rough edges using medium grit sandpaper
and a rotary tool with a sanding drum.

The cowling may contact the motor box depending on the
positioning of the engine or motor. Use a rotary tool with a sanding
drum to sand the fuselage as necessary to clear the cowling.
 Use care not to remove too much material. Use triangular
stock glued with epoxy to reinforce this are if so desired.
 Make sure to cover any openings on the engine, or
remove the engine from the fuselage, to prevent
debris from entering the engine during this step.

Cut four pieces of card stock that are 1/2 x 2 inches (13 x 51mm).
Make a 1/8-inch (3mm) hole in each piece. Tape the card stock to
the fuselage with the hole aligned with the blind nut in the fuselage.

10. Slide the cowling on the fuselage, making sure the paper markers
are on the outside of the cowl. Install the spinner backplate (not
included) and propeller (not included). Position the cowl so there is
a 3/32-inch (2mm) gap between the backplate and cowl. Also make
sure the cowl is aligned with the backplate. Use low-tack tape to
keep the cowl attached to the fuselage for the following steps.
11. Use a felt-tipped pen to mark the holes on the cowl using the paper
templates as a guide.
12. Remove the cowling from the fuselage and drill the locations using a
pin vise and 1/8-inch (3mm) drill bit.
13. Attach the cowling to the fuselage using four #4 x 1/2 inch sheet
metal screws and four #4 washers. Make sure to prepare and
harden the wood in the fuselage sides for the screws before their
installation.
14. Secure the propeller and spinner backplate (not included) to the
engine shaft. Attach the spinner cone (not included) using the screws
provided with the spinner. Trim the openings around the propeller
if necessary, as the propeller must not come in contact with the
spinner cone when installed.
