5.3 Troubleshooting
DANGER
Every time any malfunction or damage is detected in the system, immediately stop navigating, take the boat to a
safe place and contact ULTRAFLEX Customer Care.
WARNING
Whenever the following checks need the removal and/or disassembly of the steering system components, such
work must be carried by specialized staff. ULTRAFLEX offers general information only and is not responsible for
any consequences resulting from incorrect disassembly.
PROBLEM
During the filling, the steering sys-
tem becomes completely jammed.
The system is very difficult to fill.
Air keeps bubbling at the top of the
steering system tank even after
filling the system completely.
The steering system is stiff and hard
to turn, even when the boat is not
moving.

HYDRAULIC CYLINDER FOR OUTBOARD ENGINE
CAUSE
•
Blockage in the hoses between
steering system and cylinder.
•
Air in the system.
•
Leaks from the cylinder bleeder. •
•
Coiled hose.
•
Helm has been mounted upside
down.
•
Restrictions in hoses or fittings. •
•
Air in oil
• Wrong oil has been used.
•
Dirt in the valve.

SOLUTION
• Replace hoses.
WARNING
The damaged hose must be re-
placed, otherwise it may cause loss
of steering and severe personal
injury or property damage.
•
Repeat the filling and the bleed-
ing procedure of the system.
•
Install horizontally the hoses
and in any case with a maximum
inclination of 3cm each meter.
Tighten the bleeder on the cyl-
inder.
•
Uncoil and straighten the hose.
•
Mount the helm with the filling
hole in up position.
Look for and remove the re-
striction.
•
Repeat the filling and the bleed-
ing procedure of the system.
•
Drain the filling and bleeding
system.

damage caused by fluids that are not
recommended in this manual and so
the warranty is cancelled.
WARNING
Do not use the boat and contact a
specialized technician for the valve
cleaning.
