  3. 3. 3 INSTALLING THE TOP BRACKET
  3. 3. 3. 1 RUNG CLAMP
Rung fastening must be fixed perpendicular to the rungs.
Assemble the rung clamp to the ladder rungs as illustrated (Fig. 2a, 2b) .
Note:
The rung clamp can be used as a top bracket but also to hold the heavy-duty tensioner (see its
instructions for more information).
  3. 3. 3. 2 PLATFORM EXTENSION
Note:
Söll Vi-Go platform extension complies with EN 795:2012 and CEN/TS 16415:2013. A maximum of
4 users may be attached to the system at the same time (including the users attached to the anchor
point, when the platform extension is in use). The large eye of the post (Fig. 3a) serves as the anchorage
point, providing fall protection when transferring to and from the system.
When used as a single anchorage point a maximum of:
• 2 users and a maximum anchoring force of 22 kN (4,945 lbf) are permitted complying to EN 795:2012,
DIN CEN/TS 16415:2017
• 1 user and a maximum anchoring force of 22 kN (4,945 lbf) are permitted complying to
ANSI Z359.18:2017
The single anchorage point can also be used for anchoring the rescue devices.
Install the Söll Vi-Go platform extension as illustrated (Fig. 3a, Fig. 3b) .
If the Söll Vi-Go platform extension is mounted on an aluminium ladder, use M16 (5/8"-11) threaded
bars to strengthen the ladder rungs on which the upper and lower fastening points of the Söll Vi-Go
platform extension are located (Fig. 3c) .
  3. 3. 3. 3 UNIVERSAL CLAMPS
The Söll Vi-Go universal clamps are used for cable end attachments that do not rest on ladder rungs
and can be fixed on different profiles, such as rectangular hollow profiles, rectangular channel profiles,
or circular sections. Install the universal clamp on those profiles as illustrated (Fig. 4a, 4b, 4c) .
  3. 3. 4 INSTALLING THE TOP SHOCK ABSORBER
The top shock absorber is needed to allow the use of legacy Söll Vi-Go ANSI/CSA fall arresters (VGCS
& TRCS series) with stainless steel cable systems. It's not needed for systems with galvanized cable or
for systems meant to be used with Honeywell fall arresters that comply with EN 353-1 standard. The
top shock absorber is compatible with all types of top brackets. Assemble the top shock absorber to the
top bracket as illustrated (Fig. 5) .
Note:
For ANSI systems with stainless steel cable without the top shock absorber, the installer must mark the
ID plate accordingly.
  3. 3. 5 INSTALLING THE CABLE TENSIONER
Important!
Not connecting the cable to the tensioner properly puts the user's life at risk.
Note:
The cable of the system must be installed with a specific cable pre-tension to ensure that the fall
arrester functions.
The Ø8 mm cable shall be tensioned by 1,5 kN (337 lbf) and the Ø10 mm cable shall be tensioned by
0,4 kN (90 lbf).
  3. 3. 5. 1 UNIVERSAL CABLE TENSIONER
Assemble the galvanized steel tensioner (Fig. 6a) or stainless steel tensioner (Fig. 6b) . to rungs and
tighten the cable to it as illustrated.
Tension the cable to ensure the large washer is aligned with an appropriate recess in the mounting
plate tightening the counter nut against the nut as illustrated depending on the use of Ø8 mm cable
(Fig. 6c) or Ø10 mm cable (Fig. 6d) . Once this gets done, the cable is appropriately tensioned.
Note:
If universal cable tensioner is used, only one of the cable ends has to be prepared with a fixing loop.
If automatic intermediate brackets are used, ensure that the cable is pushed through all the intermediate
brackets before fixing the cable to the tensioner.
  3. 3. 5. 2 HEAVY-DUTY CABLE TENSIONER
Assemble the heavy-duty cable tensioner as illustrated (Fig. 7a) . Install it on the rung clamp as
illustrated (Fig. 7b) . After fastening the cable on the upper fastening point of the top bracket, hook it in
the cable fastening point of the heavy-duty cable tensioner, as illustrated (Fig. 11) .
