Overcasting

Overcasting is usedto prevent the fabric edgesto fray out. To
involve the fabric edgeswith a stitch, zigzagstitching shall be
used.
PREPARATION
Pattern: Zigzag stitch
Needle position: Center
Stitch length: 1-2
Stitchwidth :Zigzag
Foot: General purpose presserfoot (B)
1. Place fabric under presser foot, positioning the edge of the
fabric in the center ofthe footslot,
2. Adjust stitchwidth sothat one stitch isinsidethefabric andthe
other isout, asshown in illustration 2. This procedure allows
thatthe thread involves the fabric edge.
