Balancing the
buttonhole
Some kinds of fabrics will show different density of stitches on
the right orthe left side ofthe buttonhole. This iseasilyadjusted
by turning the balance button in the center of the stitch length
dial to balancethe density ofthe stitching.
If the stitches on the right side of the buttonhole are too
open, turn the balance button slightly to the right, until the
density ofstitches increases(illustration 1).
Ifthe stitcheson the left sideofthe buttonhole are too open,
turn the balancebutton slightlyto the left, until the densityof
stitches increases(illustration 2).
When the buttonholes are complete, turn the balance button to
this central position and the stitch length dial between 0 and 5.
