Print Quality Problems

Opening the printer exposes the fuser, which is marked
CAUTION HOT SURFACE. If you have used the printer
recently, the fuser may be hot; be careful not to touch it. Let
the printer cool before you clean inside it.
Dark or dirty background
Lighten the print density setting as described in "Adjusting print
density" on page 6-25.
Turn off the printer. Clean the paper path inside the printer using a
clean, soft, dry cloth.
Clean internal printer components by printing three pages with only
one character per page.
There may be a problem with the imaging cartridge. Remove the
cartridge, shake it from side to side, and then reinstall it. If this does
not solve the problem, replace the imaging cartridge as described later
in this chapter.
