PUSHING THE MACHINE WITH THE ENGINE
STOPPED:
FREE WHEEL CONTROL
The free wheel control (Fig.23) is provided to allow
the machine to be moved when the engine is
stationary. The control is situated in the engine
compartment on the left hand side. To gain access
lift the engine cover , reach between the engine and
chassis, about 150mm (6in) below the top of the
chassis you will locate the transport valve, to the rear
of the valve there are two knurled knobs which
operate the free wheel, and can be operated as
follows:
a.
Free wheel: Release the locking knob (A
Fig.23) and rotate the handwheel (B Fig.23)
fully anticlockwise.
b.
Drive position: After moving the machine the
outer knurled knob (B Fig.23) should be turned
fully clockwise and secured with the locking
knob (A Fig.23).
BRAKE RELEASE
The brake release valve (B Fig.24) is situated under
the operators platform and is accessible through the
right door.
1.
Turn the steering wheel so that the rear wheels
are in the straight ahead position.
2.
Move the brake operating lever to the "Brakes
off" position.
3.
Open the right hand door in the operators
platform and move the valve lever to its
uppermost position.
4.
Turn the steering wheel to the left, until the
steering feels heavy. Do not use excessive
force at the steering wheel.
CAUTION
(a)
Brakes should now be OFF
(b)
Machine can move if on a slope.
(c)
brakes can still be applied by using the
normal brake lever and moving it to the
"Brakes on" position.
5.
Repeat steps 2 to 4 as necessary.
6.
Move the valve lever under the operators
platform to its lowest position before starting
the engine.
NOTE: There is a microswitch fitted to prevent
starting the engine unless the valve lever under
the operators platform is in the correct running
position.
CAUTION: Do not bypass the microswitch to start
the engine with the valve open, as this will over
pressure the brake seals when using the power
steering.
DO NOT exceed the following speeds and distance
when moving the machine in 'Free Wheel'.

DO NOT allow the machine to free wheel down
slopes even when unloading down ramps.
