HYDRAULIC LIFT LEVERS (Fig.9)
The cutting units can be raised and lowered by three
control levers situated on the right hand side beside
the operator and can be operated as follows:
Centre lever (C) controls Centre and RH & LH front
Units No. 1,2,3
Right hand lever (D) controls R.H. Wing Unit No. 4
Left hand lever (E) controls L.H. Wing Unit No. 5
NOTE: If any unit is raised out of work then
lowered into work again the cylinder will not
rotate until the mow foot switch is depressed.
To lift: Move the lever(s) rearwards and hold in
position until the units are at the required height.
To lower: Move the lever(s) fully forwards and
release, the unit(s) will lower to ground level. DO
NOT hold lever in down position.
NOTE: The units will only lift and lower when the
engine is running.
IMPORTANT: If, when cutting, a lift control lever
is accidently pulled up, the cutting units will not
float over ground undulations until the lever is
pushed fully down and allowed to return to
neutral again.
UNIT COUNTERBALANCE CONTROL (F Fig.9)
Cutting unit ground pressure can be varied within
preset limits and is controlled by the handwheel on
the right hand side of the operators seat.
The handwheel is turned clockwise to reduce the
ground weight of the cutting unit and to improve slope
climbing performance.
The handwheel is turned anticlockwise to increase
ground weight of the cutting unit and this setting will
reduce the possibility of cutting unit "bounce" when
working at high speed on undulating ground. The
normal position for this control is midway between the
minimum and maximum settings.
SAFETY CATCHES (A Fig.10, 11, 12)
When transporting, the safety catches should always
be engaged with the units raised. These units can be
hydraulically locked in any position by releasing the
lift control lever at the required position.
To secure the front and wing units in the transport
position the hooks on the frame should be rotated to
trap the spigots on the lift arms. The rear (centre) unit
is held in the transport position by a catch which is
operated by a hand lever situated under the left hand
step behind the front wheel. To lock the unit in its
raised position, pull lever out and down in the gate.
