NEUTRAL LATCH (B Fig.4)
Has two functions:
1. The engine cannot be started when the Neutral
Latch is depressed.
2. The FWD/REV pedal will not work as described if
the Neutral Latch is not simultaneously depressed
PARKING BRAKE (A Fig.5)
The brake hand lever is situated on the L.H. side of
the steering column. To operate move the hand lever
rearward. To release the parking brake the hand
lever should be moved to its forward position. The
brakes automatically engage when the engine is
switched off
FORWARD/REVERSE CUTTING CYLINDER
LEVER
(G Fig.6)
The forward/reverse cutting cylinder control lever is
situated on the right hand side of the operator.
The drive to the cutting cylinders is controlled by this
lever and to engage forward drive the lever should be
moved forward for normal rotation for cutting, or
moved backward for reverse rotation, for backlapping
or clearing cylinders. For the neutral position the lever
should be in the central position. The cutting
cylinders will not rotate until the mow foot switch (B
Fig.5) on the left hand foot plate is depressed.
VARIABLE CYLINDER SPEED (B Fig.6)
The speed of rotation of the cutting cylinders is
adjustable by means of the handwheel situated on the
right hand side of the operator to the rear of the
cutting unit lift levers. Rotate the hand wheel
clockwise to increase cylinder speed, anticlockwise to
decrease cylinder speed.
BRAKE RELEASE VALVE (B Fig.7)
The brake release valve is situated under the
operators platform and is accessible through the right
door. For normal working the lever should be in the
down position. To release the brakes the lever should
be moved to its uppermost position and the steering
wheel turned to the left to build up pressure. This
occurs almost immediately.
NOTE: The engine cannot be cranked with the lever
in its upper position, but the vehicle parking brake is
still effective in an emergency.
FREEWHEEL CONTROL (B Fig.8)
The free wheel control is provided to allow the
machine to be moved when the engine is stationary.
The control is situated in the engine compartment on
the left hand side. To gain access lift the engine
cover reach between the engine tank about 150mm
(6in) below the top of the tank you will locate the
transport valve, to the rear of the valve there are two
knurled knobs which operate the free wheel.
