Analytical specificity
Afinion HbA1c measures the total glycated hemoglobin and reports the
HbA1c value. No significant interference (< 7%) was observed for samples
with hemoglobin (Hb) variants and hemoglobin derivatives up to the
following concentrations:
• HbA2
• HbAC
• HbAD
• HbAE
• HbAS
• HbF
• Acetylated Hb
• Carbamylated Hb
• Labile (pre-glycated) Hb
Interference
No significant interference (< 7%) was observed up to the following
concentrations:
• Bilirubin conjugated
• Bilirubin unconjugated
• Glucose
• Lipids (as Intralipid)
• Rheumatoid factor
• Total protein
• Glycated albumin
Over-the-counter and prescription drugs:
• Acetaminophen
• Acetylcysteine
• Acetylsalicylic acid
• Ampicillin
• Ascorbic acid
• Cefoxitin
• Cyclosporine A
• Cyclosporine C
• Doxycycline
• Glyburide
• Heparin
• Ibuprofen
• Levodopa
• Metformin
• Methyldopa
• Metronidazole
• Phenylbutazone
• Rifampicin
• Salicylic acid
• Theophylline
• Hemolysis (in vitro)
• Anticoagulants (K
Na -EDTA, NaF/K-oxalate and Na-citrate) at concentrations normally
