Most combustibles are heavier than air, with the exception of methane,
hydrogen, ethylene and acetylene. Sensors for gases that are heavier
COMB
than air should be installed approximately 30 cm (1 foot) from the floor.
For combustibles that are lighter than air, sensors should be installed 30
cm (1 foot) from the ceiling, close to the potential leak source.

Installation

For proper installation and operation of the 301 series products, follow the instruc-
tions in the Quick Start Guide and in this manual carefully.
Locate all units in areas easily accessible for service.
Avoid locations where instruments are subject to vibrations
Avoid locating units near sources of electromagnetic interference
Avoid locating units in areas subject to significant temperature swings
Review all Danger, Warnings and Cautions and ensure that your chosen
location is appropriate, given those cautions
Refer to the wiring diagram in the next section on for an overview of wiring
protocols for devices in a gas detection system utilizing 301 series devices.
Verify local requirements and existing codes that may impact choice of installation
location.
Risk of electrical shock - disconnect all power (input
and relay) before servicing.
