Introduction

The described devices may use one of the two protocols which include Modbus and
Vulbus (a proprietary protocol) for interfacing between devices.
The only device that has multiple protocols is the 301EM. The 301EM is a gateway
through the 301C Controller for connection to building automation systems.
Modbus Devices
The 301-C (commercial applications) or AA96D (ruggedized enclosure) controller
acts as a nerve center for a gas detection network, providing continuous monitoring
for up to 96 connected units (plus 1 301-ADI). Once installed and connected, the
controllers allow the user to monitor, adjust, or reconfigure an entire network of
units.
The 301-R (commercial applications) or AA96D-RM8 (ruggedized enclosure) act
as an output for the 301-C, and provides a standard 8 relays (DPDT 5A, 30 Vdc or
250 Vac resistive load) for the indirect activation of accessories. Since the relay
module is an output for the controller, it can be located anywhere within the gas de-
tection network. The 301-R or AA96D-RM8 is fully compatible with the 301-C or
AA96D and offer LED indicators for each relay (visible only when housing is open).
The 301-AP is a remote annunciator panel to the 301-C or AA96D controller. The
301-AP provides 3 relays (DPDT 5A, 30 Vdc or 250 Vac resistive load) for the indi-
rect activation of accessories. Since the annunciator panel is an output for the con-
troller, it can be located anywhere within the gas detection network. The 301-AP is
fully compatible with the 301-C or AA96D and offer LED indicators for each relay
(visible only when housing is open). The 301-AP is not compatible for direct inter-
face with the 301-EM.
The 420-I converts the transmitter digital signal to 4-20 mA analog outputs. The
420-I contains 8 individual milliamp output channels for individual detectors. It may
also be programmed through the 301-C to multiplex multiple detectors to a single
milliamp output.
The 301-ADI is a microprocessor based converter unit for use with Honeywell con-
trol units, such as the 301-C or AA96D controller. The 301-ADI LCD display screen,
enclosed in the housing, serves as a programming interface. The unit has 3 LED in-
dicators, 16 (loop) inputs that read 4-20mA signals and 8 contact inputs that read
contact, or relay signals.
The 420MDBS translates 4-20mA output to Modbus. This device must be placed in
a suitable enclosure or other approved Honeywell Analytics/Manning gas detectors.
