FIELD OPERATIONS
After 5 working hours
1
Check that the screws of the driving wheels and
those of the steering shaft have been tightened at
the prescribed torque, lock the possibly loosened
screws once more.
2
Check the tension of belts and chains as descri-
bed in Section 4 -- Adjustments, Lubrication,
Maintenance and Cleaning.
DANGER: no one should approach the ma-
chine while it is operating.
PRESSING OF THE FIRST BALE
Adjust the pick--up tine clearance at 20/30 mm from
the ground, as shown in fig. 24; on stony grounds,
this clearance must be increased to prevent inlet of
stones and damage to the pick--up.
WARNING: do not adjust the pick- -up at less
than 20 mm from the ground, to prevent any
projection of crop, soil or foreign bodies to-
wards the operator. In case of such risks, or when
working on irregular grounds, always wear suitable
goggles.
Windguard adjustment
The windguard, re. 1 fig. 24, must be adjusted to hold
the crop over the pick--up, for an easier feeding.
Hydraulic pressure
To adjust the hydraulic pressure, operate on the
knob, re. 2 fig. 3: turning it clockwise the pressure in-
creases and counterclockwise it decreases.
NOTE: while starting the baler, set the density at a
low value and then increase it progressively, after a
given number of bales, that is when the paint decrea-
ses friction due to the polishing action of the crop insi-
de the baler.
Feeding speed
The rotation time of the crop inside the baler influen-
ces the bale density, as the density is increased both
by the set hydraulic pressure and by the quantity of
revolutions made by the crop inside the chamber.
3- -4
A high feeding produces less thick bales, with the sa-
me crop, with respect to a bale produced with a lower
feeding flow.
The operator should find the right feeding speed, to
produce bales corresponding to the wished density.
NOTE: the baler has been designed to produce bales
having a max. weight by 700 kg forGA FB 12 models
and 800 kg forGA FB 15L models.
Some crops, featuring a high moisture content, such
as silage, can produce heavier bales. In this case, the
density must be reduced accordingly, so that the bale
weight does not exceed the given limit.
BALING START PROCEDURE
DANGER: before starting the baler, make su-
re no one is standing next to the machine and
that all the guards have been positioned cor-
rectly.
At the start of a new field, proceed as follows:
--
Check that the baler has enough twine or net, to
wrap a set number of bales.
--
Regularly clean the twine wrapper and the net
one if the baler is equipped with these devices.
--
Lower the pick--up and check that the height has
been set correctly, depending on the crop type
and on the field to be harvested.
--
Make sure the on--board computer is on.
--
Set the wished bale density.
--
Select twine wrapping (or net wrapping if the
round baler has a net wrapper), by the key, re. 3,
fig. 7.
--
Select automatic wrapping, by the key, re. 2,
fig. 7.
--
Using the twine wrapper, adjust the twine quanti-
ty to be wound by the knob, re. 1 fig. 25, (clockwi-
se to increase the twine quantity, counterclockwi-
se to decrease it).
--
Using the net wrapper (if fitted), adjust the quanti-
ty of net to be wound on the bale, according to the
sketch in fig. 11.
