GENERAL INFORMATION
3- -b OVERHEATING OF SOME BALER
COMPONENTS
DANGER: risk of fire
Avoid risks of fire keeping the machine cleaned
D
and carrying out its regular maintenance.
To put out a fire, consider the following pro-
D
cedure:
1.
move the tractor and the baler as far as
possible from flammable materials, in a flat
E
ground.
N
2.
Do not discharge the bale, as this would in-
G
crease the possibility of exposing the bale
and the baler components to open air, thus
L
baking up the fire.
I
3.
Release the tractor PTO, switch the engine
S
off and engage the parking brake.
H
4.
After stopping the baler with the suitable
supporting foot and the possible wheel
stopping wedges, immediately disconnect
the baler from the tractor (universal joint,
electrical and hydraulic systems) and
move the tractor far from the fire area.
5.
Use a fire extinguisher or a pressurized
water jet to extinguish the fire. Ask for the
help of the bystanders or call the fire brig-
ade in case of fire propagation risk.
This recommended procedure could be unsuitable
for all the situations: follow your common sense, that
can suggest the best procedure to be followed case
by case.

BALER MAINTENANCE AND CLEA-
NING
Follow the maintenance program as for the ma-
D
chine maintenance intervals. Remember that the
time dedicated to maintenance and cleaning in-
creasingly extends the machine life and makes
it safer at the same time.
No machine maintenance or cleaning interven-
D
tion can be carried out when the machine is oper-
ating or moving.
DANGER: risk of limb squeezing, cutting,
trapping and injury due to the operations on
the baler when the parts are moving.
1- -10
Strictly comply with the following procedure:
1.
Release the tractor PTO.
2.
Switch the tractor engine off.
3.
Engage the tractor parking brake. If the
baler is separate, make sure it is on a
stable position: if required, use also the
supplied stop wedges.
4.
Remove the keys from the dashboard.
5.
Wait until all moving parts have come to a
complete stop.
6.
Cut power off from the baler on--board
computer (apart from the operations re-
quiring it).
While working on the hydraulic system, make
D
sure it is drained completely.
Pressurized oil leaks can cause severe injuries.
D
Always wear individual protections such as
goggles and gloves while searching for possible
oil leaks.
DANGER: risk of high pressure fluid ejection.
Whenever you need to lay under the machine to
D
carry out a maintenance operation, support the
axle on both sides, by suitable lifting jacks, to pre-
vent the risk of squeezing should a tyre deflate
suddenly.
DANGER: risk of squeezing due to machine
instability.
To protect the tractor alternator and battery, al-
D
ways disconnect the baler from the tractor before
carrying out welding operations on the machine
or before operating on electrical components.
Whenever the tailgate must be opened or
D
closed, make sure no damage is caused to
people, animals or things.
DANGER: risk of shocks or squeezing due to
the tailgate opening/closing.
If the tailgate is open, engage the suitable safety
D
devices, see fig. 23.
DANGER: risk of squeezing due to the tailgate
accidental closing.
