Laboratory Mill CD1
1.3 Carry out the following operations before
starting up machine
■ Break roll side
❏ check to see that the front and back sight-holes of the grinder are
in their proper place.
❏ check to see, by dismantling the sieve end plate, that the beaters
mounted on the shaft turn freely and without coming into hard con-
tact with the sieve mounting (a possibility if there is damage during
shipment).
❏ check to see that the receiving-pans are carefully placed on their
magnetic lock.
■ Reduction roll side
Same for 3 points above.
No contact with the moving parts of the machine is required when
using the TEST MILL.
Grinding must be done without manipulating the aluminium plugs
which close the sight-holes of the machine cylinders and sieve
plates.
Only the scraper of the reduction roll'lower cylinder must be cleaned
with a brush (see ch. 3). When this is done, the reduction roll must
be at a standstill.
HANDLING ANY OF THE MOVING PARTS (SIGHT-HOLE
PLUGS, GUIDE-PLATES) REQUIRES STOPPING THE
MACHINE BEFOREHAND.
ANY EVENTUAL REPAIR WORK INVOLVING THE CENTRAL
CHAMBER OF THE MACHINE REQUIRES DISCONNECTING
THE TWO CONNECTIONS.
Milling is carried out using 500 g of wheat grains which have been
cleaned in order to remove foreign particles. By either damping or
drying, the moisture capacity of the grains is fixed at 16.5 % or
17.5 % (see under). Micromilling 100 g can also be done under the
same conditions with a micro-kneading extractor using 50 g of flour.
Significant flours are obtained when the following 3 stages are
followed:
