6.15 Tips for a good cup of coffee

Wash the filters and filter holders on a daily basis, as indi-
cated in para. 7.5.3 on page 60. The failure to perform this
cleaning operation will negatively affect the quality of the
dispensed coffee.
To obtain high-quality coffee, it is important that the water
hardness does not exceed 6-7°f (French degrees). If the water
hardness exceeds these values, it is advisable to use a water
filter or softener. Avoid using a water softener if the water
hardness is less than 4°f.
If the taste of chlorine in the water is particularly strong, in-
stall a special filter.
Do not to keep large amounts of coffee beans on hand. If
you change the type of coffee, we recommend calling out
the Technician to adjust the water temperature and coffee
grinder.
If the machine has not been used for a certain period of time
(2-3 hours), carry out a few dry runs. Make sure that the ma-
chine is constantly cleaned and periodic maintenance is car-
ried out.

7. MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

7.1 Safety precautions

Carefully read the instructions provided in
chapter "I. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS" on page
33.

7.2 Periodic maintenance

Besides carrying out maintenance activities according to
the frequency specified in the "Periodic maintenance table",
a general inspection must be carried out on the machine at
least once a year by a Technician.
7.3 Maintenance after a short period of
machine inactivity
"Short period of machine inactivity" refers to a period of time
exceeding one working week.
If the machine is switched back on after this period, the Tech-
nician must replace all the water inside the hydraulic circuits
as indicated in para. "7.2 Periodic maintenance".
Furthermore, all periodic maintenance operations must be
carried out, see the previous paragraph.
Component problems highlighted in grey require
the machine to be switched off and the Technician
to be called out.

7.4 Malfunctions and solutions

The machine provides the user with important messages re-
garding its operating status.
Messages regarding the alarms that may occur during opera-
tion are displayed on the bottom of the screen.
In the "Malfunctions and Solutions Table", alarms and actions
to carry out in order to try and resolve the reported problem
are provided.
Problems highlighted in grey require the machine
to be switched off and the Technician to be called
out.
If the malfunction cannot be resolved or an alarm
signal has appeared on the display, turn off the
machine off and call out the Technician.
