RECOIL STARTER DISASSEMBLY

1. Remove:
9 Recoil starter assembly
TIP
Make a knot a at the end of the starter rope
to prevent the rope from being retracted into
the starter case.
2. Remove:
9 Drum sheave 1
NOTICE
Be sure to press down on the drum sheave,
because the spring will spring out sudden-
ly when it is removed from the sheave
drum.
3. Remove:
9 Spiral spring 1

RECOIL STARTER INSPECTION

1. Inspect:
9 Starter rope 1
→ Replace.
Damage
2. Inspect:
9 Spiral spring 2
Deterioration/crack/damage →
Replace.
3. Inspect:
9 Drive pawl 1
9 Drive plate 2
9 Spring 3
Wear/damage → Replace.
