1. Remove the shroud. Refer to "SHROUD AND
COVERS"
2. Remove the right side cover. Refer to "SHROUD
AND COVERS"
3. Add electrolyte to the battery.
(See pages 3-35 ~ 3-37)
Do not overfill!
4. Charge the battery at the rate of 1.8 A for 10
hours.
(See pages 3-38 ~ 3-39)
NOTE:
Charge the battery to 1.320 specific gravity at 20 °C
(68 °F) before installation.
5. Install the battery.
6. Install the battery bracket 1.
7. Connect the battery leads.
CAUTION:
• First, connect the positive battery lead 2,
then the negative battery lead 3.

• Never hammer the battery terminals when
connecting the lead terminals to the battery.
• Make sure battery leads are connected prop-
erly. Reversing the leads can seriously dam-
age the electrical system.
8. Install the right side cover. Refer to "SHROUD
AND COVERS"
9. Install the shroud. Refer to "SHROUD AND
COVERS"
