DRIVE V-BELT HEIGHT AND
INSTALLATION
NOTE:
Apply the parking brake before installing the V-belt.
1. Check clutch center-to-center and offset specifi-
cation. Adjust as necessary.
2. Clean sheave surface of primary and secondary
clutches.
3. Install the V-belt over the primary sheave, noting
the direction of the arrows on the V-belt.
4. Rotate the secondary sliding sheave clock-wise
1 and push 2 it so that it separates from the
fixed sheave.
5. Install the V-belt 3 between the secondary slid-
ing and fixed sheave.
6. Measure the V-belt height a. Make sure that
the secondary clutch is all the way together
before measuring the V-belt height a.
Standard V-belt height:
–0.5 ~ 1.5 mm (–0.02 ~ 0.06 in)
7. Adjust the position of the V-belt by removing or
adding a spacer 4 on each adjusting bolt 5.

More than 1.5 mm
(0.06 in) above the
edge
From 1.5 mm (0.06 in)
above the edge to
–0.5 mm (–0.02 in)
below the edge
More than –0.5 mm
(–0.02 in) below the
edge

8. Tighten the adjusting bolt 5.
Adjusting bolt:
10 Nm (1.0 m • kg, 7.2 ft • lb)
9. Install the V-belt guard.
WARNING
Never run the engine without the V-belt or
with the V-belt guard removed.
