5.1.8 Fuel filter
Check that the engine oil filler cap is properly tight before inspecting the fuel filter ①.
➊ Remove the fuel filler cap and drain the fuel into an approved petrol container, tipping the engine towards the fuel
filler neck.
➋ Take the fuel filter out of the filler neck by hooking the fuel pipe with a piece of metal wire (see Figure opposite).
➌ Inspect the fuel filter. If it is dirty, remove it for washing in a non-flammable solvent. If the filter is very dirty, replace it.
➍ Insert the fuel filter in the tank and fully tighten the fuel filler cap.
5.1.9 Replacing the drive belt
➊ Remove the protective cover over the drive system by unscrewing the 6 captive screws ⑤, which
will remain in place on the housing.
➋ Loosen the 4 screws ③ without totally unscrewing them.
➌ Tighten screw ⑥ included in the tooling (Ref. MEG), in order to remove the tension on the drive
belt.
➍ Remove the worn drive belt ④ and replace it with a new belt (Ref. MLB).
➎ Remove screw ⑥ by unscrewing it completely. The belt will be tightened
automatically by the 2 springs ②.
➏ Tighten the 4 screws ③.
➐ Refit the protective cover and then operate the unit for 15 minutes at half-
speed and under no-load conditions, by attaching it to a rail.
➑ Loosen the 4 screws ③ without totally unscrewing them. Belt ④ will then
be tightened automatically to give the best possible operating conditions.
➒ Tighten the 4 screws ③.
➓ Refit the protective cover.
