3.6 Inspecting the machine

Each component of the machine must be examined by a competent person before use, in order to detect possible defects.
The inspection is principally visual and functional.
The inspection stage ensures that the various components are safe and have not suffered damage in transport or storage.
Inspection of tool condition
Refer to § 3.3 "Fitting the drill".
• Verification of mechanical assemblies (
Check visually that there are no external defects, deformations, surface cracks, signs of wear or corrosion marks.
Verification of levels (
verification carried out with the engine stopped)

Fuel level: check the fuel level and top up if necessary (
before any action)

Engine oil level: Check the engine oil level using the dipstick, top-up if necessary. The level should be slightly below the maximum mark on the dipstick
but must never be above it (see engine maintenance documentation supplied with the machine)
• Verification of safety equipment
Start the engine (
: refer to § 4.1.2 "Starting and stopping the engine") and verify the correct operation of the safety equipment (engine stop).
• Functional verifications
Carry out a functional check of the controls. Check that the spindle advance lever works correctly: when the lever is moved, movements of components
must be as smooth as possible without any points of resistance.

RESTORED TO COMPLIANCE BY COMPETENT PERSONNEL OR BY THE MANUFACTURER BEFORE BEING USED AGAIN
