3.7 Marking the drilling axis

Marking the drilling axis is an operation which must be performed before the machine is placed on the rail.
Marking can be carried out in two different ways, depending on whether a drilling template (optional) is
used.
➊ For drilling without a template:
- Mark the drilling axes by a line Ⓑ (see Fig.1) on the top of the rail. The groove Ⓐ in the positioning
lever ① must coincide with the previously-prepared line Ⓑ.
➋ For drilling with the optional template:
- Place the drilling template ③ on the top of the rail.
- Align the chamfered section of the template with the end of the rail to be drilled.
- Fully hand-tighten the 2 screws ②.
Functionality of the drilling template:
- The template accurately positions the holes together relative to the end of the rail, showing the
drilling axes by notches Ⓒ which serve to position the machine.
- By the combination of taper clamps, we obtain accurate drilling positions directly, without
hesitation and with no need for measurement or marking.
- Each hole separation and position relative to the end of the rail requires a specific drilling

template.
NB – When ordering a drilling template, tell
us the type of rail and complete the document
shown in Appendix A as fully as possible
