4.1.3 Instructions for using the drilling machine

We have defined a certain number of basic rules to be followed in order for drilling to be performed under the best possible conditions and to ensure the
longevity of the machine.
• Spindle adjustment
Depending on the rail and the diameter of the hole to be drilled, spindle adjustment may be needed before drilling takes place, so that the drill ② does not
come into contact with the rail ③ when the machine is placed in position.
This adjustment also maximises the drilling travel and thus makes it possible to drill through the whole rail ③in a single operation (without indexing the
spindle advance lever ④).

It is essential to stop the engine before indexing the spindle advance lever.
When the drill ② corresponding to the diameter of the hole to be drilled has been fitted to the spindle, position the end of the drill approximately 5 mm from
the taper clamps ① (see Fig. 1) and index the lever ④ to the high position (see Fig. 3) (refer to §3.2 "Indexing the spindle advance lever"). The drilling
operation will thus take place in a single pass (see Fig. 2).
